Ebong Alap celebrated ten years of its works in February 2014 with the programme called Dasher Alap in jadavpur University. Everyone who had been a part of our many had varied activities for the last ten years were invited to participate. This include artists and art students from Shanti Niketan, college students from Burdwan, writers of ALAP series books and members of Disha in Sundarban. July 2014, Aman Trust and Ebong Alap in collaboration with Centre for Marxian Studies, jadavpur University organized a panel discussion on ‘The Religious Right in a Neoliberal India’. The discussion was attended by Anita Dixit, Surajit Mazumdar, Chirashree Dasgupta and moderated by Modhumita Roy. On 1st August 2014, the second day of the two day initiative jointly taken by Aman Trust and Ebong Alap in collaboration with Centre for Marxian Studies, student workshop took place on ‘Communalism, Violence and Censorship’. Jamal Kidwai and Swati Ganguly were present as Samantak Das moderated the workshop. The workshop of followed by musical concert dedicated to syncretism by Satyaki Banerjee, Sahana Bajpaie and Samantak Saha. Ebong Alap organized a discussion with the School of Media, Communication and Culture of Jadavpur University in September 2013 on Women, Violence and Public Spaces which was entitled ‘Kon Rasta-ta Safe?’ Students from quite a few colleges in West Bengal performed and presented their views at this symposium. Ebong Alap organized a 2-day national symposium on Political and Sexual Violence in Contemporary India in collaboration with Aman Trust. Academics, activists and performers from all over the country participated in this symposium. This was held in National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) Kolkata in December 2014.
